Orcs - Can They Be Redeemed?

Summary:
This group naturally assumes any living being is theoretically capable of goodness.  How to reform an orc is a more difficult problem.
From what little we know of orc society, we assume orcs live in a constant state of fear.  Any who do not measure up to their superiors' expectations are likely to be eaten.
Since orcs are used to hierarchical society, it is possible a "good" leader could encourage a band of orcs on the path to reform.  However, it would not be easy for an outsider to gain the status of leader.
Orcs reproduce "in the ordinary way".  We wonder what maternal feelings mommy orcs feel toward their children.
We wonder about the efforts to cross-breed orcs and humans.  We suppose no human women volunteer for this.  A human woman imprisoned and force-fed might be kept alive long enough to bear a hybrid baby.  [Editor's note:  The idea of human fathers and orc mothers did not come up.]
